I’m a Harvard-trained Physical Therapist specializing in helping older adults stay sharp, strong, and independent through science-backed exercises that enhance both brain and body health. With years of experience in neurology and neuroscience, I’ve developed an evidence-based approach that bridges the gap between research and practical care. My programs focus on improving mental sharpness, physical vitality, and overall well-being to support long-term independence and reduce the risk of dementia.
Through targeted exercises, I help individuals strengthen cognitive function, build muscle, improve balance, and enhance mobility—key factors in maintaining a high quality of life. My goal is to empower older adults with effective strategies to support aging with confidence and resilience. Whether looking to boost memory, increase strength, or prevent decline, my approach provides the tools needed for lasting brain and body health. What Clients Say
My mother is getting up in years and lives thousands of miles from me. I live in the Boston area and my mother is in Miami, FL. I met Dr. Joyce Gomes Osman a few years ago while she was at Harvard, and I’ve managed to keep in touch. Recently, I was delighted to see that she was putting her talents and experience (PhD, Physical Therapist, and Health Coach) to work, effectively improving the lives of people through a personalized brain health physical therapy practice. The thing that attracted me most is that this is not a virtual interaction. I think we are all suffering from some level of Zoom fatigue and need direct human contact. Because my mother lives alone, this kind of in-person interaction in her home is just what she needs. Knowing that Dr. Gomes Osman is working hard to maintain my mother’s mental sharpness and independence offers both me and my mother a piece of mind that has no price on it. I knew that Dr. Gomes Osman was smart, but I was more blown away by her bedside manner and genuine desire to personally help people. I highly recommend Dr. Gomes Osman to anyone who wants to keep their (or their loved ones) mind sharp.
I met Joyce and her team as a colleague at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine a few years ago as I was a participant in one of her NIH studies using exercise to improve brain health. I had done physical therapy in the past but had never experienced something like this!
Specifically, there were many measurements and outcomes following my progress over an entire program. In fact, I wanted to continue but the study period ended. It was most active had I had been in the last few years. I could really feel the benefits of a science-based exercise program and I would recommend this to all of my friends and family. I have very little free time so the fact that Joyce comes to the house makes all the difference. It’s a perfect model for those with a busy schedule. I am excited to continue keeping my brain working with Physical Therapy for Mental Sharpness.
I am a busy Family Practice Physician in the Miami area and I have many older patients that have been asking me for ways to preserve their brain function, especially the ones with a strong family history of dementia or other neuro-degenerative diseases. There are a ton of recent reports in the news and media about how exercise and proper mental stimulation can be effective for slowing brain ageing and cognitive decline. I’ve been getting a lot of questions about this! While looking for a place to refer my patients, a colleague of mine introduced me to Joyce. She specializes in physical therapy for brain health, and I am delighted to now have a viable option for my patients. She is on top of her game and uses the most cutting-edge scientific methods to offer bespoke therapy programs focused on keeping people’s brains healthy and working well through the golden years.
